Chester is a dual purpose Chesapeake that we imported from Wales. He was bred by Janet Morris of Penrose Chesapeakes, Janet is one of the top breeders of Chessies in the UK, her website details are on the Chessie links section of this site. Chester has just completed his first full shooting season (2002/2003) where he retrieved many ducks, he has also competed in both shows and also a few working tests. His show results are detailed below and he was also placed 2nd in the Puppy class at the UK Chesapeake Bay Retriever Club's Spring Working Test in April 2003.
In July 2004 in the UK he gained his American Kennel Club Working Dog Certificate (WD) and narrowly missed out on the Working Dog Excellent (WDX) and Working Dog Qualified (WDQ) Certificates. In the WDQ, the highest level, he failed on the very last retrieve and was the only dog competing to get that far. It was disappointing to get so close but still a great achievement for Chester.
We are now into the 04/05 Shooting season and Chester has worked on both duck and pheasant rough shooting outings and has done very well.
